ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,376,876, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Globus Medical Inc. (Audubon, Pa.).

"Rotary oscillating and reciprocating surgical tool" was invented by Peter L. Bono (Bingham Farms, Mich.), James D. Lark (King of Prussia, Pa.) and John S. Scales (Clinton Township, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A surgical tool that has a pair of transmissions coupled to one another to effect driving of a cutting tool in both an oscillating manner and a reciprocating manner. The transmissions are driven by a motor coupled to one of the transmissions."

The patent was filed on April 9, 2024, under Application No. 18/630,536.
