ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,419,949, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to GLAXOSMITHKLINE BIOLOGICALS SA (Rixensart, Belgium).

"Modified human cytomegalovirus proteins" was invented by Marco Biancucci (Rockville, Md.), Sumana Chandramouli (Rockville, Md.) and Newton Muchugu Wahome (Rockville, Md.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Modified HCMV gB proteins in a non-post-fusogenic conformation, compositions comprising such proteins, and uses thereof."
