ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,324,445, issued on June 10, was assigned to General Mills Inc. (Minneapolis).

"Protein composition" was invented by Roy Bechtold (St. Louis Park, Minn.) and Richard Ganis (Cooper City, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods are disclosed for making a high protein, pliable food composition that remains pliable over a shelf life of at least 6 months, and food compositions made by disclosed methods. Food products containing disclosed food compositions are also disclosed."

The patent was filed on Jan. 31, 2019, under Application No. 16/263,661.
