ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,429,086, issued on Sept. 30, was assigned to General Electric Co. (Evendale, Ohio).

"Bearings with grooves and methods of producing the same" was invented by Paul Mathew (Bengaluru, India), Ravindra Shankar Ganiger (Bengaluru, India) and David Raju Yamarthi (Bengaluru, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A bearing having a bearing surface with a groove, the bearing positioned adjacent to a shaft, the groove facing the shaft, and a negative thermal expansion (NTE) material positioned in the groove, the NTE material at least partially filling the groove."
