ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,306,091, issued on May 20, was assigned to GEN-PROBE Inc. (San Diego).
"Non-absorbent cleaning member with transport arm working end coupling element for use in a sample testing system" was invented by Norbert D. Hagen (Carlsbad, Calif.), Byron Knight (San Diego) and David Opalsky (San Diego).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cleaning member including a distal cleaning element and a proximal coupling element, where the coupling element has a proximal end portion dimensioned to form a frictional fit with a working end of an automated transport arm."
