According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A D-galactopyranose compound of formula (1)wherein, the pyranose ring is beta-D-galactopyranose, and pharmaceutical composition including these compounds. Also, methods for treating a disorder relating to the binding of a galectin-1 and/or -3 to a ligand in which these compounds or pharmaceutical compositions are administered."
