US Patent Issued to GAF Energy on May 27 for "Roofing systems with water ingress protection" (California, New Jersey Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,316,268, issued on May 27, was assigned to GAF Energy LLC (Parsippany, N.J.).

"Roofing systems with water ingress protection" was invented by Thierry Nguyen (San Francisco), Ray Lu (Parsippany, N.J.) and Rory Runser (Palo Alto, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A roofing system includes a roof deck and at least one photovoltaic module installed on the roof deck. The first photovoltaic module includes at least one solar cell and a sealant. At least one fastener penetrates the sealant and the roof deck."

The patent was filed on Oct. 25, 2024, under Application No. 18/927,132.
