ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,405,429, issued on Sept. 2, was assigned to Fujikura Ltd. (Tokyo).

"Cleaning tool" was invented by Shunsuke Fujita (Chiba, Japan), Kunihiko Fujiwara (Chiba, Japan) and Masashi Ohshima (Chiba, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cleaning tool includes: a head; and a cleaning body wrapped around the head. The head includes: a head body; and a projection that projects from the head body. The projection is retractable relative to the head body. The head may further include an elastic member that restores a positional relationship between the projection and the head body."
