ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,464,169, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. (Munich).

"Video coding using a coded picture buffer" was invented by Yago Sanchez De La Fuente (Berlin), Benjamin Bross (Berlin), Robert Skupin (Berlin), Cornelius Hellge (Berlin), Thomas Schierl (Berlin) and Thomas Wiegand (Berlin).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Interpolation between explicitly signaled CPB (or HRD) parameters at selected bit rates is used to achieve a good compromise between CPB parameter transmission capacity and CPB parametrization effectiveness and may be, particularly, made in an effective manner."
