ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,415,546, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Rock kick up recognition system" was invented by Brendan F. Diamond (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), Anthony Maraldo (Southgate, Mich.) and Keith Weston (Canton, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle includes one or more sensors configured to generate sensor data; and a controller programmed to: responsive to receiving the sensor data indicative of rocks being propelled off the ground, perform a vehicle operation to protect the vehicle from the propelled rocks."
The patent was filed on Nov. 9, 2023, under Application No. 18/505,515.
