ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,451,771, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Inverter bus with integrated bleed resistor" was invented by Ji Wu (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Baoming Ge (Okemos, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electric drive system includes a power electronics module with a prefabricated DC bus bar assembly. The prefabricated DC bus bar assembly includes a molded bleed resistor which serves two different functions. First, it dissipates energy from a capacitor when the battery is disconnected. Secondly, it physically supports the positive bus bar and the negative bar with respect to one another."
