ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,479,432, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Pre-departure trailer based attachment detection system" was invented by Brendan F. Diamond (Naples, Fla.), Keith Weston (Canton, Mich.), John Robert Van Wiemeersch (Novi, Mich.), Stuart C. Salter (White Lake, Mich.) and Rudi Todd Ansbacher (Westland, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle is configured to be connected to a trailer. The vehicle is configured to detect connections of the trailer to utility infrastructure. Movement of the vehicle is moderated if physical utility connections are present."
