ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,259,253, issued on March 25, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).

"Vehicle guidance" was invented by Stuart C. Salter (White Lake, Mich.), Pietro Buttolo (Dearborn Heights, Mich.), William H. Wurz (San Francisco), Hussein H. Berry (Dearborn, Mich.), David Kennedy (Canton, Mich.) and Kenneth Mchugh (Canton, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system includes a first vehicle computer programmed to monitor first vehicle sensor data as the first vehicle traverses a route; identify a location of interest along the route based on a topographic feature of the location of interest determined from the first vehicle ...
