US Patent Issued to Ford Global Technologies on June 3 for "Time-based artificial road friction learning method and system" (Michigan Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,294, issued on June 3, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).

"Time-based artificial road friction learning method and system" was invented by Kyle Culek (Birmingham, Mich.) and Jose Velazquez Alcantar (Canton, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and a system for estimating a coefficient of friction of a surface being traveled upon by a vehicle is disclosed. The methods and systems may be active when wheel slip is not present and while wheel slip is present.
