ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,237,720, issued on Feb. 25, was assigned to Ford Global Technologies LLC (Dearborn, Mich.).
"Electric machine thermal management" was invented by Dengfu Zhang (Northville, Mich.), Brian Christian Orr (Macomb, Mich.), Alfredo R. Munoz (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Franco Leonardi (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) and Joel Hetrick (Ann Arbor, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An electric machine including a stator core having an outer circumferential surface and an axial row of raised projections that extend radially outboard from the outer surface. The raised projections are axially spaced from each other to define circumferential channels therebetween....
