ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,227,416, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to FLUOR TECHNOLOGIES Corp. (Irving, Texas).

"Pre-combustion CO2 removal in a natural gas fed steam methane reformer (SMR) based hydrogen plant" was invented by Ravi Ravikumar (Lancaster, Calif.) and Sunil Singhal (Gurugram, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In a hydrocarbon-fed steam methane reformer hydrogen-production process and system, carbon dioxide is recovered in a pre-combustion context, and optionally additional amounts of carbon dioxide are recovered in a post-combustion carbon dioxide removal, to provide the improved carbon dioxide recovery or capture disclosed herein."
