ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. PP36,812, issued on July 8, was assigned to FLORICA FARMS INC. (Orlando, Fla.).
"Sansevieria plant named 'ZEBRA'" was invented by Marvin Gonzalez Villegas (Alajuela, Costa Rica).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Sansevieria aubrytiana plant named 'ZEBRA' particularly characterized by its variegated foliage with different dark and light green colored irregular bands in the front and backside of the leaf blade. Supported in a rosette disposition, 65-80 cm plant height, erect plant habit, and moderately drought tolerance with low need for water and resistant to anthracnose (Colletotrichum sansevieriae) disease."
