ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,418,035, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to Flexitallic Investments Inc. (Houston).

"Sealing material" was invented by Stuart John Shaw (Cleckheaton, Great Britain) and John Hoyes (Yorkshire, Great Britain).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to composite sealing materials for a gasket. The gaskets are useful in solid oxide fuel/electrolyser cells (SOFC and SOEC). The fuel cell gaskets contain sealing material based upon chemically exfoliated vermiculite that has improved corrosion resistance. The sealing material comprises chemically exfoliated vermiculite; filler; and insoluble carbonate."
