US Patent Issued to Fjord on Oct. 7 for "Edge protector mat" (North Carolina Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,434,106, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Fjord Inc. (Graham, N.C.).

"Edge protector mat" was invented by Edward Ratigan (Graham, N.C.) and Michael Ratigan (Elon, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An edge protector mat is formed from a mat with a top surface, a bottom surface, and a number of metal bars. The top surface contains a number of receptacles grouped into one or more pairs sized, shaped, and otherwise configured to receive opposing ends of the metal bars therein.
