ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,415,447, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to FAURECIA Sieges d'Automobile (Nanterre, France).
"Foldable vehicle seat" was invented by Uwe Lindenberg (Stadthagen, Germany), David Epaud (Lardy, France) and Farouk Bouzid (Bretigny sur Orge, France).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle seat comprises an underframe; a backrest with a backrest frame; and a flange on each side of the backrest. Each flange is mounted so as to pivot relative to the backrest frame about a first transverse axis, and relative to the underframe about a second transverse axis."
