ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,358,788, issued on July 15, was assigned to EXXONMOBIL TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING COMPANY (Spring, Texas).

"Methane pyrolysis using stacked fluidized beds" was invented by Ramesh Gupta (Berkeley Heights, N.J.), Hugo S. Caram (Allentown, Pa.), Anjaneya S. Kovvali (Herndon, Va.), Sumathy Raman (Annandale, N.J.) and David C. Dankworth (Princeton, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods are provided for conversion of methane and/or other hydrocarbons to hydrogen by pyrolysis while reducing or minimizing production of carbon oxides. The conversion of hydrocarbons to hydrogen is performed in one or more pyrolysis or conversion ...
