US Patent Issued to Essential Aero on April 15 for "Automatic foreign object debris inspection system" (California Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,277,850, issued on April 15, was assigned to Essential Aero Inc. (Rocklin, Calif.).

"Automatic foreign object debris inspection system" was invented by Stephen S. Boyle (Sacramento, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method and system for detecting foreign object debris (FOD) from an UAV is disclosed herein. The UAV comprises avionics, an airframe, a location sensor, an attitude sensor, an intelligent payload comprising an edge processor capable of executing a machine learning model, at least one gimballed camera sensor, a data connection to the UAV avionics, and a data connection to a ground based data center."
