ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,279,820, issued on April 22, was assigned to Envision Diagnostics Inc. (El Segundo, Calif.).

"Medical devices, systems, and methods for performing eye exams and eye tracking" was invented by Alexander C. Walsh (Los Angeles), Paul G. Updike (Cerritos, Calif.) and Richard Castro (Santa Monica, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Apparatus and methods for eye tracking using an optical coherence tomography (OCT) device are disclosed. Such eye tracking may be performed by using information about the shape of the cornea and the corneal apex or using the iris/pupil border obtained using the OCT device."
