ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,347,639, issued on July 1, was assigned to ENTEGRIS INC. (Billerica, Mass.).

"Method and systems useful for producing aluminum ions" was invented by Ying Tang (Brookfield, Conn.), Joseph R. Despres (Middletown, Conn.), Joseph D. Sweeney (New Milford, Conn.), Oleg Byl (Southbury, Conn.) and Barry Lewis Chambers (Hot Springs Village, Ark.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described are ion implantation devices, systems, and methods, and in particular to an ion source that is useful for generating an aluminum ion beam."

The patent was filed on Dec. 11, 2023, under Application No. 18/536,031.
