ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,290,241, issued on May 6, was assigned to EndoChoice Inc. (Alpharetta, Ga.).

"Removable tip endoscope" was invented by Avi Levy (Herzliya, Israel), Moshe Levi (Ganey Tikva, Israel) and Amram Aizenfeld (Ramot Menashe, Israel).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "There is provided herein, an endoscope comprising an elongated shaft terminating with a tip section wherein said tip section comprises a permanent section connected to the elongated shaft and a removable section securely connectable to the permanent section, wherein the removable section comprises at least one capture device and at least one light source."
