US Patent Issued to Embecta on March 25 for "Pen needle" (Irish Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,257,423, issued on March 25, was assigned to Embecta Corp. (Andover, Mass.).

"Pen needle" was invented by Pearse Egan (Dublin).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pen needle includes a hub supporting a needle and a distal needle shield that can retract to expose the needle and return to an extended position to cover the needle. A proximal needle shield moves to an extended position to cover a proximal end of the needle.
