US Patent Issued to Elemental Scientific Lasers on April 22 for "Simultaneous pattern-scan placement during sample processing" (Montana Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,444, issued on April 22, was assigned to Elemental Scientific Lasers LLC (Omaha, Neb.).

"Simultaneous pattern-scan placement during sample processing" was invented by Ciaran J. O'Connor (Bozeman, Mont.), Erik B. Larsen (Bozeman, Mont.) and Leif C. Summerfield (Bozeman, Mont.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A laser ablation system, and method, facilitates the execution of user-defined scans (i.e., in which a laser beam is scanned across a sample along a beam trajectory to ablate or dissociate a portion of the sample) and enables the user define additional scans while a scan is being executed."
