"Process for production of new sulfolenic intermediates" was invented by Werner Bonrath (Kaiseraugst, Switzerland), Marc-Andre Mueller (Kaiseraugst, Switzerland), Bettina Wuestenberg (Kaiseraugst, Switzerland) and Viktor Zimmermann (Kaiseraugst, Switzerland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a new process for the production of new specific intermediates, which are preferably used in the production of vitamin A, vitamin A acetate, or Beta-carotene and derivatives thereof, e.g. canthaxanthin, astaxanthin or zeaxanthin."
