ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. PP36,754, issued on June 24, was assigned to Driscoll's Inc. (Watsonville, Calif.).

"Blueberry plant named 'DrisBlueThirtyOne'" was invented by Bruce D. Mowrey (Asheville, N.C.), Jennifer K. Izzo (Watsonville, Calif.) and James Olmstead (Aptos, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct variety of blueberry plant named 'DrisBlueThirtyOne', particularly selected for its ability to fruit on current season's growth, as well as the large size, firmness, and flavor of its fruit, is disclosed."

The patent was filed on Aug. 1, 2024, under Application No. 18/792,258.
