ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. PP36,780, issued on July 1, was assigned to Driscoll's Inc. (Watsonville, Calif.).
"Blackberry plant named 'DrisBlackThirtyFour'" was invented by Gavin R. Sills (Gilroy, Calif.), Yunwen Wang (Aptos, Calif.), Mark F. Crusha (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and John Nader Fangary (Royal Oaks, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct variety of blackberry plant named 'DrisBlackThirtyFour', particularly selected for its fruit flavor, firmness, shelf life, and berry size, is disclosed."
The patent was filed on Aug. 1, 2024, under Application No. 18/792,288.
