ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,296,726, issued on May 13, was assigned to Dorel Juvenile Group Inc. (Foxboro, Mass.).
"Child restraint" was invented by William P. McHugh (Norfolk, Mass.) and Jason H. Johnson (Brownstown, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A child restraint includes a seat base and a juvenile seat adapted to mount to the seat base. The seat base is adapted to rest on a vehicle seat. The juvenile seat is adapted mount to the seat base to secure the juvenile seat to the vehicle seat using the seat base. The juvenile seat includes a seat shell formed to include a child-receiving space."
