ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,382,234, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corp. (San Francisco) and DOLBY INTERNATIONAL AB (Dublin).

"Perceptual optimization of magnitude and phase for time-frequency and softmask source separation systems" was invented by Aaron Steven Master (San Francisco), Lie Lu (San Francisco) and Heiko Purnhagen (San Francisco).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method comprises: obtaining softmask values for frequency bins of time-frequency tiles representing an audio signal; reducing, or expanding and limiting, the softmask values; and applying the reduced, or expanded and limited, softmask values to the frequency bins ...
