ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,247,230, issued on March 11, was assigned to DNA POLYMERASE TECHNOLOGY INC. (St. Louis).
"Mutant polymerases and uses thereof" was invented by Wayne M. Barnes (University City, Mo.), Milko B. Kermekchiev (St. Louis) and Zhian Zhang (Ballwin, Mo.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided are mutant polymerases having DNA polymerase activity and reverse transcriptase activity or strand displacement activity, along with target nucleic acid amplification methods employing such mutant polymerases."
The patent was filed on Sept. 27, 2023, under Application No. 18/476,104.
