ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,458,714, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to DiversiTech Corp. (Duluth, Ga.).
"Ice machine with ultraviolet light source" was invented by Christopher C. Willette (Jupiter, Fla.) and Aaron Engel (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Canada).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A UV LED ice disinfecting device. The UV LED ice device is designed to disinfect or sterilize ice, particularly ice made and dispensed from an ice making machine."
The patent was filed on Feb. 1, 2021, under Application No. 17/164,272.
