US Patent Issued to Distance Technologies on Oct. 7 for "Uniformly polarized backlight" (Finnish Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,436,427, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Distance Technologies Oy (Helsinki).

"Uniformly polarized backlight" was invented by Mikko Juhola (Muurla, Finland) and Petri Savolainen (Espoo, Finland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A backlight unit for a liquid crystal display device includes an array of light-emitting elements. Each element includes a light source configured to emit light laterally relative to an optical axis of the backlight unit.
