ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,310,867, issued on May 27, was assigned to DEPUY SYNTHES PRODUCTS INC. (Raynham, Mass.).

"Stent with longitudinal variable width struts" was invented by Melissa Clinger (Raynham, Mass.) and Peter Forsythe (Raynham, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Stents generally can include multiple longitudinal elements each extending over a majority of the length of the stent and each having alternating flexible and rigid segments. The stents can include nodes positioned between the flexible and rigid segments on the longitudinal elements and interconnecting members extending circumferentially to connect adjacent longitudinal elements at the node...
