ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,267,806, issued on April 1, was assigned to DENSO International America Inc. (Southfield, Mich.) and DENSO Corp. (Kariya-sha, Japan).

"Distributed generation of real-time location" was invented by Kyle Cooper (Plainwell, Mich.) and Eric Smith (Holland, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A system and method for determining location information of a portable device relative to an object is provided. In one embodiment, aspects of the system to determine location with respect to the portable device may be distributed among more than one device in the system."
