ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,435,678, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to DeltaHawk Engines Inc. (Racine, Wis.).

"Engine cylinder with liner" was invented by Matthew Daniel De Lise (Brookfield, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An engine is provided with a cylinder liner that extends beyond the surface of the crankcase surrounding the cylinder. When the engine is oriented in an inverted V-block configuration, the extension of the cylinder liner provides a barrier to oil that can pool on the crankcase surface and otherwise enter the interior of the cylinder, absent such a barrier."

The patent was filed on Sept. 6, 2024, under Application No. 18/827,176.
