ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,278,046, issued on April 15, was assigned to Dell Products LP (Round Rock, Texas).

"Systems and methods for tunable haptic damping" was invented by Jason Scott Morrison (Chadron, Neb.) and Yiming Chou (Taipei, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An input device may receive, from an information handling system, a first instruction to adjust a tension on a damping medium of a linear magnetic ram of the input device. The input device may adjust the tension on the damping medium based on the first instruction."
