ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,471,518, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to DEERE & COMPANY (Moline, Ill.).

"Systems and methods for selective material placement, sensing, and control" was invented by Cary S. Hubner (Geneseo, Ill.) and Grant J. Wonderlich (Milan, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Locations of seeds in a field can be identified. A material is applied to the field by an agricultural machine, based upon the seed locations. The placement of the material is detected and the agricultural machine is controlled."
