ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,359,176, issued on July 15, was assigned to Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (Kongens Lyngby, Denmark).
"Engineered cells for production of indole-derivatives" was invented by Douglas Bruce Kell (Wrexham, Great Britain), Lei Yang (Birkerod, Denmark) and Sailesh Malla (Niva, Denmark).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Integral membrane proteins capable of transporting melatonin and other indole-derivatives across biological membranes, and uses thereof."
The patent was filed on March 13, 2020, under Application No. 17/437,908.
