ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,311,956, issued on May 27, was assigned to Curtis Instruments Inc. (Mount Kisco, N.Y.).

"Grade severity detection" was invented by Brian M Walker (Livermore, Calif.) and Johannes Boot (Oakland, Calif.).
