ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,148, issued on April 8, was assigned to Cummins Inc. (Columbus, Ind.).
"Piston ring installation tool" was invented by Bradley T. Oswalt (Columbus, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Piston assembly installation tools are disclosed, each installation tool configured for installation of the piston assembly into an opposed-piston engine from a crankcase area of the engine. The installation tools comprise cutouts to account for cylinder block main journal saddles located on either side of a cylinder bore where the piston assembly may be installed."
The patent was filed on Aug. 17, 2020, under Application No. 16/995,274.
