ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,340,001, issued on June 24, was assigned to CTM Insights LLC (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).

"Methods for determining data integrity using overlapping regions" was invented by Louis A Steinberg (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and John A Curtis (Austin, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods, apparatuses and systems are defined for the efficient identification and location of changes in an electronic file by defining and applying a set of overlapping unique areas within the file. A signature for each unique area or bubble is determined and compared to the signature of the same set of unique areas applied to a target file."
