ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,310,685, issued on May 27, was assigned to Covidien LP (Mansfield, Mass.).

"Drive mechanisms for surgical instruments such as for use in robotic surgical systems" was invented by Kurt J. Anglese (Lafayette, Colo.).
