US Patent Issued to CORNING on Sept. 16 for "Cholesteric liquid crystal window having multiple stable states and methods for use" (New York Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,416,840, issued on Sept. 16, was assigned to CORNING Inc. (Corning, N.Y.).

"Cholesteric liquid crystal window having multiple stable states and methods for use" was invented by Mingqian He (Horseheads, N.Y.) and Xiang-Dong Mi (Pittsford, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are liquid crystal devices including at least one cholesteric liquid crystal layer and having multiple stable states. Also disclosed are liquid crystal windows having at least three stable states in the absence of voltage."
