ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,345,851, issued on July 1, was assigned to Corning Inc. (Corning, N.Y.).

"Corrosion-resistant coatings for IR-transmitting substrates" was invented by Leonard Gerard Wamboldt (Sunderland, Mass.) and Yongli Xu (Bolton, Mass.).
