ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,522,533, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to CORNING Inc. (Corning, N.Y.).

"Methods of forming laser-induced attributes on glass-based substrates using mid-IR laser" was invented by Stephan Lvovich Logunov (Corning, N.Y.) and Alexander Mikhailovich Streltsov (Corning, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods of making a glass-based article including a surface feature thereon. Methods include arranging a glass-based substrate relative to a laser. Methods also include irradiating the glass-based substrate with laser beam with a light wavelength from about 2500 nm to about 3000 nm to grow a surface feature thereon."
