ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,378,151, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to CORNING Inc. (Corning, N.Y.).

"Phase-separated glass compositions" was invented by Robert Randall Hancock Jr. (Corning, N.Y.), Aize Li (Painted Post, N.Y.) and Liying Zhang (Painted Post, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A borosilicate-based composition, including: 50-85 mol. % SiO2, 10-40 mol. % B2O3, less than0-5 mol. % SnO2, and less than0-20 mol. % of at least one alkali oxide selected from Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O, and Cs2O, such that the composition has a Young's Modulus less than 64 GPa."

The patent was filed on May 13, 2022, under Application No. 17/743,703.
