ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,226,492, issued on Feb. 18, was assigned to Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y.).

"Gene therapy for eosinophilic disorders" was invented by Ronald G. Crystal (New York), Odelya E. Pagovich (New York) and Katie Stiles (Bronx, N.Y.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Compositions and methods for eosinophilia in a mammal are provided. In one embodiment, the composition is a viral gene therapy vector, and a single dose of the vector reduces increased numbers of eosinophils in a mammal."

The patent was filed on Dec. 28, 2018, under Application No. 16/959,090.
